·Commissioned for the Soviet Pavilion at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs, Paris 1925 — the exposition that named Art Deco.
·Rodchenko designed every element: reading lecterns, chess table, folding screen, loudspeaker apparatus.
·Deliberately opposed to the luxury materials and ornament of Art Deco surrounding it at the same exposition.
·Recognized as a seminal work of 20th-century design — precursor to Bauhaus total design philosophy.
