Concrete sculpture (1993) by Rachel Whiteread. Commissioned by Artangel. Full-scale concrete cast of the interior of the last remaining Victorian terraced house at 193 Grove Road, Bow, East London. Stood 25 October 1993 – 11 January 1994. Now destroyed.
Scholarly Significance
Most politically contested destroyed artwork in British YBA practice. Demolition by Tower Hamlets council 11 weeks after completion.
