Prambanan Temple Complex (c. 850 CE)
Hindu temple complex at Prambanan, Central Java, Indonesia, constructed c. 850 CE, attributed to the Sanjaya dynasty. The largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia and one of the greatest Hindu monuments in Southeast Asia. Dedicated to the Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva); the Shiva temple (Loro Jonggrang) is the tallest structure at 47 m. UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Dutch colonial archaeological work (Theodoor van Erp, early 20th century) began systematic restoration of Prambanan after centuries of collapse and neglect. Post-independence Indonesian scholarship reframed the site as a primary expression of pre-Islamic Javanese classical civilisation. UNESCO inscription (1991) and 2006 earthquake recovery consolidated international recognition.
