Dong Son Bronze Drum (Heger Type I, c. 500–100 BCE)

A Đông Sơn culture bronze drum (Heger Type I), northern Vietnam, c. 500–100 BCE. The flat tympanum displays a central 14-point sunburst star surrounded by concentric bands depicting warriors in feathered headdresses, long-prowed ceremonial boats, egrets in flight, and deer. Among the defining objects of Vietnamese Bronze Age civilization; examples held at the Vietnam National Museum of History, Hanoi and international collections.
